Post-school depression / Confused young adult / struggling dreamers

I don’t know if it’s just me but I guess a lot of people my age who just finished school can relate to this feeling. This mind state that no one prepares you for. This limbo of trying to figure out what you want to do. I hope I’m right and not just ranting.

So we’ve finished school, moving from a kind of structured environment to this chaotic world where a lot of things are out of our control. Structured in the sense that we knew the (jamming up I’ll fly away by Kanye West and it suits my mood) school’s calendar. We knew when it was time for exams or when to move to the next class. ( Anita by cavemen 😂😂 I’m honestly searching for answers too). We are moving from steady allowance to hustling for data money.

Most of us have this feeling or emotion, I don’t know what it is but we just want to figure things out. A lot of us can’t see past this Nysc year. We don’t know what we want to do, some might say it’s a lack of vision or ambition. We are just operating on vibes and inshallah. (Sauti sol is on). We are in the face of reality, we are basically confused, what’s next for us. All we want to do is hack this thing called adulting and make money😂.

Saw this while struggling to define my dreams. Don’t feel bad for not dreaming.

We are making a couple of adult decisions, hoping for the best. Trying to find our place in this chaotic world.

Maybe you feel like you studied the wrong course. Or you are just in a hurry to leave the shackles of your parents. Or you don’t know what to do with your certificate. Or you Just know you go dey alright. Everything is in phases, answers will come as you move. I know that you didn’t waste your years in school.

I want to say you’re not alone but what does not being alone change. We dey this confusion together. Let’s just stop worrying about the future, worrying changes almost nothing. We should just put in our best and trust the process. Answers will come as we move. No pressure, do you.

Arthur Ashe said “ Put away your fear and keep moving”.

Start where you are, use what you have, do what you can

For decisions, remember you’ll live with them forever, not whoever pressures you to make it. Don’t be afraid to fail, fail fast and learn from it. Failure isn’t the end of the world. But be careful to not make an unfixable mistake.

Work for the best outcome, but make peace with the worst outcome

From David Oyelowo

Financially, don’t be in a hurry to make money or hammer. Don’t let greed and love of money make you stupid. Life is a marathon, not a sprint. Take your time and enjoy the process, you only live once.

Check out Ayomide Oyekanmi’s article on how he got into google. His story will inspire and motivate you. I got all my quotes from there😅.
